SUPPORTIVE CARE

– symptomatic treatment and chronic symptoms treatment is very important in the management of patients with multiple sclerosis.

We run the treatment session with every patient who reports to our Institution with a diagnosis or suspected disease.

After a detailed interview, examining the patient and analyzing the test results, we talk with the patient about the disease and its possible course, we offer a care plan and a treatment program.

We also educate the patient how to recognize a relapse, how to distinguish a pseudo-relapse and we inform about progressive course of the disease.

Every three months, during scheduled monitoring visits, we assess the neurological status of the patient, we analyze reported symptoms, including chronic symptoms (spasticity, tremor, mood disorders, dysuria, and also from other organs), we order appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment.

In case of acute neurological symptoms, degeneration of motor, general or mental skills, the patient contacts the coordinating nurse, who organizes an unscheduled visit with the leading neurologist.

If the neurologist recognizes a relapse, required laboratory tests are ordered together with the treatment of the relapse. In other cases, the doctor arranges a specialist consultation.

We strive for maximum reduction of symptoms and ailments.
